WORCESTERSHIRE BADGER SOCIETY |
However, we understand that others take exception to badgers digging up their lawns, rooting up their vegetables and forcing their way through fencing. Badger activity that causes damage to gardens is usually seasonal and occurs most often in early Spring or Autumn. In most cases, it is easier and cheaper to tolerate this activity.
Badgers are determined and strong. If you do not wish to have them in your garden at all, then you should consider fencing your garden with a suitable strong mesh that is buried into the ground. Alternatively, a wall on proper foundations may work. If you wish to deter badgers for a short season while crops are ripening, then a correctly set electric fence may work. You should note that larch lap type panels are not strong enough to deter a badger.
If you think that badger activity may be causing damage to buildings, it may be possible for a licence to be issued to deter, exclude, or in extreme cases, remove the badgers.
If you are having problems with badgers in your garden, then contact the Worcestershire Badger Society for further advice.
