The Worcestershire Badger Society aims to conserve, protect and promote badgers as part of the indigenous fauna of the county. Here are some of the ways that we aim to do this:
MONITORING SETTS Regular visits to check for sign of illegal disturbance, contacts with landowners and local people to encourage vigilance.
ADVICE We offer free advice to the general public regarding badgers and problems with badger activity. We also offer a consultancy service to government departments and commercial agencies (for which we may make a charge).
LIAISON With Police and the RSPCA over suspected offences against badgers.
PUBLICITY Through local TV, radio and press contacts.
EDUCATION By giving talks to the general public, clubs, societies and schools, organising field meetings and distributing information leaflets.
RESCUE, REHABILITATION AND RELEASE of injured, sick, orphaned and displaced badgers. The Society has access to excellent facilities for caring for badgers.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HANDLE INJURED OR SICK BADGERS UNLESS YOU ARE EXPERIENCED AND HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT. BADGERS ARE CAPABLE OF INFLICTING SERIOUS BITE WOUNDS.
